Abstract
Local government-owned banks (Bank Pembangunan Daerah) have an important role in boosting local economy development. ln response with a tighter competition, BPDs are argued to be able to keep on increasing their assets, as well as capital, and better managing their financial performance in order to penetrate local market to become market leaders rather than market followers. This meant that they must be able to run their business thoroughly and share more contributions from the profits they obtained to the local government revenue. This research focuses on analyzing financial performance of BPDs in the provinces of Sumatera Barat, Kalimantan Selatan and Nusa Tenggara Barat. lt includes a comparative analysis to reveal those which can fully run its business very well.
